Supercharge your Immunity!

The Coronavirus- 2019-nCoV continues to spread across the country and abroad and in times like this, having a strong immune system is key. Instead of relying on pill supplements (synthetic nutrients) which may not be well-absorbed by the body, we strongly recommend a whole-food approach to build up your immunity. Since consuming sufficient whole fruits and raw vegetables daily can be challenging for many, we recommend adding some nutrient-dense superfoods (antioxidants, minerals, prebiotics, essential fatty acids, anti-microbial/anti-bacterial) to your diet every day. This can be a very convenient and effective way of getting an immune boost naturally without having to rely on supplements.

Antioxidants

Antioxidants are well-known as our body’s defenders as they help to fight harmful free radicals in our body, keeping us healthy and our immune systems strong. Antioxidant-rich superfoods may protect you from infection by stimulating the formation of antibodies and boosting our immunity. Nature’s Superfoods Organic Camu- Camu berry powder (full-spectrum whole-food Vitamin C), Maqui Powder (anthocyanins and polyphenols), Acai Powder (anthocyanin and Omegas), Matcha powder (EGCG) are some superfoods which contain some of the highest levels of antioxidants to strengthen the immune system!

Minerals
A healthy immune system mostly depends on a good balance of vitamins and minerals in our diet. Taking a good Multivitamin is a foundational step for improving immunity. We highly recommend Moringa powder( known as Mother Nature’s multivitamin) which has more than 90 bio-nutrients and 46 antioxidants, as well as more iron than spinach.Moringa is also a great source of calcium – good for bone health.
Another important mineral – Zinc (an active immunity enhancer) helps to regulate the immune response and protect cells from susceptibility to oxidative damage/ inflammation. A great superfood that is rich in zinc is Premium Nutritional Yeast Flakes. Not only is it rich in minerals like selenium, magnesium, iron and calcium, it is also a Vitamin B Complex superfood containing a full spectrum of B vitamins. B vitamins are essential for us as it ensures optimum energy production in the body and Vitamin B6, especially, is important to keep our immune system strong.

Prebiotics

Prebiotics are types of dietary fiber that feed the gut with good bacteria. The lining of the gut is covered in bacteria which create a micro-ecosystem called the microbiome. This microbiome plays an important role in your health. Hence, what you feed your microbiome has the biggest impact on its health and the key is to nourish the bacteria in your gut. Great examples of a food high in prebiotics include Yacon syrup and Yacon Root Slices which are particularly rich in the prebiotic fructooligosaccharides (FOS) and inulin. This improves gut bacteria, reduce constipation, enhance the immune system, improve mineral absorption, regulate blood fats while having antioxidant properties.

Essential Fatty Acids

“Essential” means our body unable to produce it and must be acquired from diet. These essential fatty acids (good fats) can help our body to normalize the function of the immune system and brain functions. Nature’s superfoods Organic Chia seeds, chia seed oil (Omega 3:6 – ratio 3: 1), Acai Powder, sacha seeds, plant protein powder has good amount of essential fatty acid that helps to strengthen the formation of healthy brain cells and cardioprotective benefits.

Antimicrobial/Antibacterial

Many foods have their own defenses against viruses, fungi and bacteria. When we fall ill, our immune system needs help to fight off the harmful bacteria naturally. This can be provided in the form of anti-bacterial and anti-microbial foods. Raw Honey has antimicrobial and antibacterial properties help fight infections from viruses, bacteria, and fungi. It is known to improve your digestive system, treat acid reflux, soothe a sore throat, treat a nasty cough and overall improve your immune system.
