Ceylon Cinnamon Powder is known for its antimicrobial, antioxidant, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory benefits. This mildly sweet spice is also anti-diabetic as it is known for helping to lower blood sugar levels. Evidence suggests that cinnamon increases insulin sensitivity and thus, prevents and controls elevated blood glucose levels. According to research, cinnamon can also help with heart health by reducing several common risk factors of heart disease such as high cholesterol levels and high triglyceride levels.
Native to Sri Lanka, Ceylon Cinnamon is a better cinnamon variety than the more common and cheaper cinnamon variety (Cassia cinnamon) due to its rarity, delicately sweet flavor, and lower coumarin content. The mildly sweet, full-bodied flavor of Ceylon Cinnamon makes it ideal for desserts, beverages, smoothies, and baking recipes.
Aside from its powerful antimicrobial, antioxidant, antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties, Ceylon cinnamon is also known to help with heart health. According to a study, cinnamon can help reduce several common risk factors of heart disease such as high cholesterol levels and high triglyceride levels. Additionally, cinnamon is reported to also help protect against neurological diseases such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease.
