Nature’s Superfoods’ Organic Cold-Pressed Sacha Inchi Seed Oil is made from the seeds of the Sacha Inchi plant that is organically grown and sustainably harvested in the Peruvian Amazon rainforest. It has one of the highest contents of Omega 3 (45-53%) and Omega 6 (34-39%) fats amongst all vegetable oils, with an ideal balance between the Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids. A healthy ratio of Omega 6 to Omega 3 appears to be 1:1 or 2:1. Most of our modern diets are deficient in Omega 3 fatty acids and have way too much Omega 6 fatty acids which are found in most vegetable oils used in our foods. This imbalance (with excessive Omega 6) is ironic and inflammatory diseases. As our daily diets are usually low in Omega 3 fats (and not Omega 6), the high content of Omega 3 in Sacha Inchi Oil helps to supplement this essential nutrient needed by our bodies.
Sacha Inchi Oil also contains Omega 9 fats and a high concentration of Vitamin E specifically gamma and delta tocopherols. Due to the high content of tocopherols, it does not require additives or preservatives to maintain its freshness and stability through time, i.e. it has a long shelf life. This nutrient-dense oil provides excellent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits. As it is mechanically extracted through a cold-pressing process at low temperatures without the use of chemicals or solvents, essential fatty acids, vitamins and other nutrients are well preserved in the oil.
With a pleasant, light and slightly nutty flavor, Sacha Inchi oil is versatile in usage – it can be consumed directly or with salads or cooked dishes. And here’s the good news – due to its high content of naturally occurring tocopherols, our extra virgin Sacha Inchi oil has a high smoke point of 491ºF/255ºC that is higher than most unrefined vegetable oils in the market allowing it to withstand cooking over medium-high heat. This means that you can use our Sacha Inchi oil as cooking oil for most of your recipes!
Our Sacha Inchi Seed Oil is suitable for people with nut allergies as it is derived from Sacha Inchi Seeds. It is also a great source of Omega fatty acids for vegetarians as very few plant-based foods come close to the levels supplied by Sacha Inchi oil.
