Cheesy Popcorn
1/2 cup popcorn kernels
2 tablespoons Nature’s Superfoods Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
2 tablespoons Nature’s Superfoods Nutritional Yeast Flakes
Salt to taste
Instructions
- Heat a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the coconut oil and popcorn kernels to the pot. Stir to coat the kernels evenly with the oil.
- Cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid. Shake the pot gently to keep the kernels moving and prevent them from burning.
- As the popcorn starts to pop, continue shaking the pot occasionally to ensure even cooking. Once the popping slows down to about 2-3 seconds between pops, remove the pot from the heat. Let it sit for a minute to allow any remaining kernels to pop.
- Carefully remove the lid, keeping it away from your face to avoid steam. Sprinkle the nutritional yeast flakes over the popcorn while it’s still hot. The yeast flakes will stick to the popcorn due to the residual heat and oil.
- Add salt to taste and toss the popcorn gently to distribute the nutritional yeast and salt evenly.
- Transfer the popcorn to a large bowl or individual serving bowls. Serve immediately and enjoy the flavorful and cheesy popcorn!
Note: Nutritional yeast flakes have a cheesy flavor and are often used as a vegan substitute for cheese. They add a savory taste to the popcorn.
