Focus

Keeping Focus

When we talk about focus, we are essentially talking about the health of our brain, as our brain is responsible for maintaining functions such as concentration, focus and memory.

Brain health is encouraged when we have proper exercise, learn new skills, express kindness and gratitude, and to a certain extent, include moments of meditation in our day. Additionally, there are various nutrients (in delicious superfoods too, no doubt) that can also help support brain health and cognitive functions.

Antioxidants

Antioxidants, like flavonoids, help our brains recover from oxidative damage and cognitive decline. They are known to help nourish the brain, keeping it healthy and functioning properly. Research has indicated that people who consume high amounts of flavonoids could delay their memory decline by more than two years compared to those who do not. Superfoods that contain antioxidants would be cacao powder, cacao nibs, acai berries, mulberries, maqui berries, camu-camu berries, golden incan berries and goji berries.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Omega-3 fatty acids, especially for DHA, have been found to be able to reduce inflammation and even improve mental concentration and fight against memory loss. Besides fatty fishes, plant sources such as chia seeds, sacha inchi seeds are perfect little superfoods that contain high amounts of omega-3 fatty acids.

Amino Acids

Amino acids, specifically L-Theanine, coupled with caffeine (which are both available in Matcha powder/tea) can help increase focus and attention whilst promoting clarity of mind. Additionally, it can also provide other benefits such as stress relief and an increase in alertness without any drowsy after-effects.
