What is Turmeric and what can it be used for?
Turmeric is considered a member of the Ginger family and is a popular spice that gives curry dishes their yellow-orange hue. However, Turmeric also is known quite well for its medicinal properties. Modern research in recent years have demonstrated that Turmeric has many health benefits. The main benefit comes mainly from its anti-inflammatory qualities due to compounds called curcuminoids – the most important being curcumin. Curcumin is also a strong antioxidant that can neutralize free radicals and stimulate the body’s own antioxidant mechanisms.
